I am Charlez360

My full length studio album “I Am Charlez360” released on 1.1.23 and I couldn’t be more excited!!! My goal with this album was to make the best saxophone music I’ve ever made. I wanted to discover my own personal limits on the saxophone while creating fun, genre-defying music that will make you dance. This album included an extensive writing process, hours of recording and planning, and dozens of sleepless nights.  I poured my heart and soul into making sure I got it right.  I am so proud of this music and can’t wait to share it with you!!!

I began sharing my music with the goal of inspiring ONE person, bringing joy to ONE person, convincing ONE person to learn to play the saxophone. I’ve accomplished that goal thousands of times now, but the feeling is the same. The messages, the love from you guys is unbelievable. THANK YOU

  • 1. Lights On

“Lights On” is a high-energy electronic song that is sure to make you dance! Described as having “The Weeknd” vibes, this song features two high-powered saxophone solos coupled with a raging chorus line that will conjure your meanest stank face.

  • 2. Area 51

“Area 51” was initially inspired by the hilarious internet plan to storm Area 51 and uncover all of its secrets. This song features a brief acoustic guitar intro, a 5-piece horn section (of all saxes of course), 2 saxophone solos, and a synth solo. “Area 51” ended up becoming a story about being abducted by aliens and discovering that they are not so different from us. This song may or may not be a retelling of an experience I’ve had…

  • 3. Revenge

“Revenge” is a garage uk track with a phat bassline that will make you shake your booty. The sounds of the saxophone matching a muffled vocal sample will make you want to sing along to a song with no words. I also took a lot of creative liberties with a range of fun effects on the saxophone including the phaser, filter, EQ, and delay.

  • 4. Summer 84

When I first set out to make this album, I knew I wanted to have at least one slow song. “Summer 84” is it. Reminiscent of 80s movies such as “Dirty Dancing” or “The Breakfast Club,” this song can make you feel young again, but maybe also look back and wonder.

  • 5. Just Drive

Whenever I drive, I usually like to travel at a high speed with the cruise control on. “Just Drive” is a house song that I created for my own personal car ride. Hop in, hit play, and let’s go. Just drive.

  • 6. You Know The Vibes

This is my favorite song on the album because I think it features my saxophone in a completely unbridled and natural state of existence. This song has no rules and the tenor saxophone takes that and runs 1,000 miles with it. There are multiple mini drum solos in there, and overall “You Know The Vibes” is just a fun song designed to make the listener bump their head.

  • 7. Funkin Around

Originally, I had decided to design my entire album around “Funkin Around.” I just never came up with any other songs quite like it, and I’m glad, because it’s so unique. This song is absolutely influenced by the many years I have spent playing as the tenor saxophonist in the funk band AKITA. The bassline, the guitar, and the 4-piece horn section all build on each other leading to some insane saxophone solos. This song features the jazzy stylings of my good friend Zach Wheeler (of Menastree) on the alto saxophone.

  • 8. Sugar

“Sugar” is another silky smooth funk song that was originally supposed to link up with “Funkin Around” to create a funk album masterpiece. The other songs on the album aren’t really classified as funk, and it’s great! There’s so many flavors to choose from, but everyone loves sugar, right?

  • 9. After Life

“After Life” is a perfect example of how a song just comes together to become something truly great. Starting off as a random beat/backing track that I created on my computer, each piece just fell perfectly into place over about 1 month’s time. I honestly never had any intention of finishing this song, let alone adding it to my album. I sent the instrumental to my friend and bandmate Zach Willard, and he put in some serious work. In just 2 days’ time, he sent me the muted plucked guitars and a solo to DIE FOR. Amazing work. Description goes here

  • 10. One Way To Heaven

This was the last song that I completed on the album because…I was scared. There, I said it. I had created the backing track almost 4 years ago and never had the guts to play saxophone on it because I didn’t want to mess the song up. I’m so glad I waited. I am a much better saxophonist now and I am incredibly pleased with the solo I was able to create on my NEW Yamaha 62 saxophone. Again, Zach WIllard came in clutch on this one and laid down a solo that left me speechless when I first heard it.

  • 11. Groom Lake

Groom Lake” is an interesting song because it is a living reminder to myself and to everyone to NEVER GIVE UP. I will never forget the day I was recording this song, because everything was going wrong. The computer kept freezing, microphones were acting up, saxophones were being difficult. You name it. It’s funny to look back on now, but by the time I got things working, I was extremely pissed off. I let all that rage out on the alto and tenor saxophones and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.
